Bouldering the Ka'aena Point Arch

This picture is one of a few taken on a successful trip to climb the Ka'aena Point Arch. A pretty rad basalt landmark on leeward O'ahu.

Bloudering on O'ahu

If any climber is on O'ahu for an extended period of time and wants to try someplace other than Waimea for bouldering, a couple of decent places are the Lanikai ridge trail, and the Helemano Bug Park. The Lanikai has some awkward, chossy V0-V5 routes and Bug Park has a wide range of problems all throughout the dry creekbed (there are a few boulders upstream too). Both are worth checking out for a day if you're in the area (especially Bug Park if you happen to live around Schofield). Here's a couple of topo pics for each. The top is of the Lanikai and the bottom is of the upstream unnamed boulder at Bug Park (I forgot to take a picture of the main wall).

I'm pretty excited after having just gotten a MID and installing alchemy on it. I can't really use a sketchbook at work, but with a MID, I can quickly switch back and forth between art and work related stuff. it also doesn't hurt that alchemy runs like a fucking champ on an atom processor. all my best ideas are at work and I've been wasting them for far too long.

after almost 3 months on Oahu,island that's supposedly known for day geckos I just today saw one.  it's too bad all I had was my lame-ass cell camera.
